About the Foundation
Greetings
Greetings!
Thank you for visiting the Gimpo Cultural Foundation.
The culture of a region is significantly shaped by its geographical characteristics.
Gimpo, being an exceptionally distinct region, features a dynamic peninsular topography that naturally facilitates convergence and dispersion. This occurs as five rivers, including the Han River, merge in the North and South, subsequently dispersing into the Hap River and regional waterways.
The Imjin River and the Han River converge in the surging currents of Jeollyu-ri, where the flow of water reverses. Through this force of energy, this convergence is transformed as Gimpo's Jogang River.
Amidst the rapidly advancing urbanization, the northern region's enduring rural charm, and the lively North-South border area, create a seamless blend of harmony and diversity, which also showcases its power to forge Gimpo's truly unique culture.
The cultural foundation aims to serve as a platform for culture and the arts, envisioning Gimpo's transformation into the ‘Central City of the Han River Culture and Arts’. Gimpo will continue to grow by transforming the inherent challenges posed by urbanization, the Han River, and the North-South border into valuable cultural resources.
Your active participation and interest in our cultural endeavors are sincerely appreciated.
Thank you.
